This makes the 4 year Depot contract sound even better than the 3 year Onsite option. Hellion Prime, your point about finding servicing a computer in a client's home is an interesting one (sounds like better work might be performed off site). Great to hear the "Depot" service has a reasonably fast turnaround time. Bkz of the sale and the delivery time issue (I was told 3-4 weeks) I feel the need to make a decision today.hmmm, we'll see. I feel a litttle under the gun as I understand that the 4th of July sale ends today (7/9). 6-8 hours reading lots of text on it? Have you or anyone else been able to see both screen types (WXGA and WXGA+) to have an impression you could share? I guess bottom line what I am wondering is, do you find the image less than desireable if you were going to be spending aprox. babyachilles, if I could ask you please, if you increase the text size, do you experience text that lacks clarity.i.e. Hellion Prime and hello world, you both seem to prefer the WXGA+'s resolution, but babyachilles, you seem to suggest that you would rethink your decision concerning going with the WXGA+. However, 2 of the 3 reps I talked to at Lenovo have said the regular WXGA would be a more "preferable" screen for reading text. I like a bright screen (with the option to decrease brightness) and have heard the WXGA+ is brighter.and greater resolution always instinctively stikes me as a good thing. To date, the closest I have come is a T60 at Best Buy. If I were you, I would try to get my hands on a laptop with the resolution of the WXGA+ T61 and see what you think.Īs several have suggested, I wish I could see both screens, but unfortunately (.and frustratingly) I have been unable to find anyplace that has them. Hellion Prime is right that this is a matter of personal taste. Having more screen real estate is nice for working with pictures and videos, but it isn't as nice for working with text. I went with the WXGA+ screen and now kind of wished I hadn't. Many of the same considerations you are facing, I faced. I also purchased the T61 for grad school. I am in a very similar situation as yourself. Thank you VERY much.I am very grateful for any and all advice (particularly good advice) - View image here: -.thanks again!! I know nothing about this and would really appreciate hearing your thoughts on this too. Lastly, any thoughts on "Turbo Memory"? For $50 this option is available, however it comes at the supposed loss of wireless WAN.although I was told that Express Card Slots would serve the same purpose. Bkz I will be in school 3-4 years I am a little torn on which plan to choose (4 year on-site jumps from $379 to $569.too expensive). In looking at the Protection Service warrantees, the 4 year "depot" (mail-in) and 3 year on-site are rougly the same price (covers damage, spills, etc). I would greatly appreciate help with this decision.Īlso, I will be going part-time.at least the 1st year or so. While a great idea, much the use will be away from home. One of the reps recommended the WXGA+ with a 19" LCD. There is only a $30 price difference so cost is not an issue. When I asked about simply turning down the brightness and enlarging the text size on the WXGA+, I was told that bkz there are more pixels.the resolution would not be as desireable (less clear text image). BUT, if the use will be primarily text and numbers/Excel type work.one is better-off with the WXGA bkz it has a larger native resolution and is not as bright. I have heard mixed reports from talking to different Lenovo Thinkpad reps, but the general concensus seems to be, that for graphics work the WXGA+ is the better choice. I have done a lot of searching and have decided on a Thinkpad T61. I have used primarily desktops my entire life and now, going back to school (law school), I am required (and looking forward) to having a notebook/laptop.
